NIGICHA's New Japanese Sweet "Daijouon An-Butter Ohagi" Available from September 1st

NIGICHA will begin selling a new Japanese sweet, "Daijouon An-Butter Ohagi," starting Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Crafted in the spirit of NIGICHA — where matcha and onigiri come together to celebrate Japanese food culture in a new way — this is an onigiri-shaped ohagi.

The mochi rice uses 100% "Dewa no Mochi," a rare variety grown in Shonai Town, Yamagata Prefecture. The filling is made with chunky anko crafted from large Daijouon azuki beans from Tokachi, Hokkaido, by Akanemaru, paired with salted butter.

With every bite, you'll experience the bold, satisfying texture of the large Daijouon azuki beans and the rich flavor of the red beans. Layered with the gentle sweetness and chewy texture of "Dewa no Mochi," along with the rich creaminess and subtle saltiness of salted butter.

The butter's saltiness perfectly balances the sweetness of the anko — simple, yet each ingredient's flavor shines through.

The nostalgic taste of "an-butter" and the traditional Japanese "ohagi," reimagined in NIGICHA's own unique way.

Please enjoy it alongside matcha or Japanese tea.
